Fort Peck Paleontology Inc. and Dinosaur Field Station
Fort Peck Paleontology, Inc. is located at Fort Peck, Montana, and is home to PECK'S REXTM; the tyrannosaur that was discovered not far from here in 1997. The working field station acts as a receiving and storage center for fossil finds in the area. Bone preparation and research, and molding and casting of the original fossils take place at this facility. Fort Peck Paleontology is a respository for the State of Montana. A small gift shop in the building has a lovely display of the cast replicas available for sale, as well as other unique and interesting items.
The field station is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers building. It was the original laundry facility during the construction of Fort Peck Dam. The renovation and operating costs for the field station have been largely incurred by generous donations of time, materials and money from the people of northeastern Montana.
